Womens March in Washington

Amy flew down to DC last weekend to attend the Women's march -- I uploaded a bunch of photos from her phone and I am now shamelessly posting them here on the blog.

Amy's flight down took her to Charlotte and then to DC -- she said that the plane was packed with people getting ready to attend the march, so it was a good vibe. At the airport:

Amy stayed over with Alyson on Friday night with a collection of other friends; Chris cooked everyone a big meal. Saturday morning, getting ready to go:

Amy and her gang got a bit of a late start, so by the time they made it to the subway station there was an immensely long line:

After waiting for an entire hour in line (and not getting appreciably closer to the head), they decided to hop in a car instead and drive in. This turned out to be a decent solution-- they were able to find parking without too many hassles and then made their way to the gathering.

The gang:

Needless to say, it was unbelievably crowded, huge numbers of people (maybe even "yuge"?).

The posters, which speak for themselves:

The crowds were so thick that Amy's group never did get close enough to the stage area to hear the speakers, but they certainly saw plenty of the marchers.  It sounds like it was an incredible experience, I wish I could have been there (although who knows, maybe there will be future opportunities :-).
